AMD Chair and CEO Lisa Su opened her keynote at CES 2026 with a clear message about the future of computing: AI for everyone.
To support that vision, AMD announced a new lineup of AI-focused processors, signaling its belief that AI-powered personal computers will define the next era of computing.
At the annual CES conference on Monday, the company unveiled the Ryzen AI 400 Series, the latest generation of its AI PC chips. According to AMD, the new processors deliver 1.3 times faster multitasking performance than competing products and are 1.7 times faster for content creation workloads.
The chips feature 12 CPU cores and 24 threads, enabling multiple independent instruction streams within the processor.
The Ryzen AI 400 Series builds on the Ryzen AI 300 Series, which was introduced in 2024. AMD has been producing Ryzen processors since 2017.
Rahul Tikoo, senior vice president and general manager of AMD’s client business, said during a press briefing that the company now supports more than 250 AI PC platforms, representing double the number from last year.
“In the years ahead, AI is going to be a multi-layered fabric that gets woven into every level of computing at the personal layer,” Tikoo said. “Our AI PCs and devices will transform how we work, how we play, how we create and how we connect with each other.”
AMD also announced the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, the latest version of its processor designed specifically for gaming.
“No matter who you are and how you use technology on a daily basis, AI is reshaping everyday computing,” Tikoo added. “You have thousands of interactions with your PC every day. AI is able to understand, learn context, bring automation, provide deep reasoning and personal customization to every individual.”
PCs powered by either the Ryzen AI 400 Series or the Ryzen 7 9850X3D are expected to be available in the first quarter of 2026.
In addition, AMD revealed a new version of its Redstone ray tracing technology, which simulates the physical behavior of light to improve video game graphics without sacrificing performance or speed.
